FAQ on Computer Repair services

Below are the common questions people often asked concerning their laptop problem.

MY personal computer (PC) can’t format any external driver such as flash. Please how can I resolve this problem?

The formatting problem is typical as a result of a virus problem. A virus can hook files in a removable drive and work with it, thereby making it difficult to eject or format.

In this case, there is no use in formatting a drive on a virus-infected computer. Because immediately after that, the virus re-hooks.

Rather you can do this, open the command prompt and type ‘control folders’. A window will pop up. Click the View tab. Scroll and check view hidden files and folders.

Uncheck the hide system files and hide known file extensions. This will enable you to see hidden viruses in your flash. Alternatively, you can write ‘attrib -h -s E:\*.*’ where E is the label of your removable drive.

What can be wrong when you have this error pop up ”Incompatible Dimm module in socket”?

This is a typical ram problem. Most modern “DIMM slots” accept ram with a frequency of 166mhz, 286, or 333. If you were using another ram before, check the frequency on the label.

Then buy a new one with the same frequency. Try reinserting your RAM in your motherboard
if the error still persists then either your RAM or your motherboard (hopefully not) needs changing.

I have an Acer aspire 5755G which I use for my Gaming and Programming tutorials. Now the issue is whenever I lunch a Game the charging indicator would start blinking and won’t charge which started long ago, I followed all online tutorials but yet every time I lunched a game software while the charger is plugged, it would start blinking, but if I exit the game and re-plug the charger it would charge proper.
I asked around and someone said the issue is from the charger, I tried other Acer chargers all the same. Another suggested battery, it’s not like I can’t change the battery but I am scared in case I change the battery and later found out the issue is not from the battery. Please do look into this Issue what is the possible solution?

Answer: Try and get a new battery and test your laptop with it. If it’s not still working, then proceed in servicing the motherboard.

I was charging my laptop yesterday after 35 minutes later, I decided to power it on and all I could see is a blank screen with 7 beeps. The laptop is Dell Inspiron 15. Please help?

This is typically a RAM issue, try to check if the RAM is shifted or has developed a fault. You may also try replacing it with another RAM in case the existing one is bad.
